How Can I Pay for Invisalign Treatment?

If you’re considering smile and health-enhancing Invisalign orthodontics for yourself or your kids, you’re probably already aware of the multiple benefits of this state-of-the-art teeth-straightening system. However, you may not be so sure about the various options available to pay for Invisalign treatment.

From insurance coverage to flexible savings accounts, health spending accounts and health savings plans, there are a variety of ways to make paying for Invisalign treatment more affordable – and you may not realize some of these financial benefits are open to you.

You may also be able to spread out the cost of Invisalign treatment interest-free through our affordable in-house payment plan options.

Insurance Coverage for Invisalign Treatment

Invisalign, metal braces and any other treatments that move your teeth all fall under the category of orthodontic treatment or therapy. Orthodontic treatment is covered by many dental insurance plans so you may be able to claim a substantial portion of the cost through your insurance.

If your current dental insurance does not include orthodontic therapy coverage, you may be able to buy orthodontic coverage separately.

Bear in mind there’s often a one time lifetime insurance limit on the amount payable for orthodontic care and if you have used your orthodontic insurance already once, you may not be able to use it again on a child or vice versa. As well, some insurances only allow orthodontic coverage on children up to a certain age.

You can find out whether your dental insurance covers orthodontic treatment by:

  • Asking your workplace benefits manager or HR department.

  • Calling your insurance plan’s customer service line.

  • Or checking your benefits package section on orthodontic treatment.

If you don’t have coverage yourself, you may be able to apply your partner’s orthodontic coverage (if they have it) to your treatment.

We are happy to check with your insurance provider on your behalf to see if you or your partner have orthodontic coverage. In fact, we offer free Invisalign consults, where we are happy to answer all your Invisalign-related questions.

Health Spending and Savings Accounts

You may also be able to get help to pay for Invisalign treatment through:

  • A Health Spending Account. With a Health Spending Account (provided by your employer), you can use credits for healthcare expenses, including orthodontic treatment, that may not be covered by your employee or provincial plan.

  • Flexible Savings Account. If you pay into a flexible savings account at work, it may cover orthodontic therapy including Invisalign aligners.

  • Health Savings Account. You can use money from a Health Savings Account to cover orthodontic treatment including Invisalign.

These accounts allow you to deduct your Invisalign cost from your taxable income. This means you get a tax refund to cover part of your treatment at the end of the tax year.

With these spending and savings accounts, you may be reimbursed at a later date after paying your dentist for treatment, or your benefits provider may be able to pay your treatment bill directly.

Affordable, Interest Free Payment Plans

At aLo dental we offer affordable, flexible, interest free payment plans.

You can also apply for financing through companies like Dentalcard or Crelogix (with terms ranging from 3 to 60 months).
